New Jersey Trucking Industry

Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT) is an annual federal highway use tax paid to the IRS. It is paid for heavy vehicles with gross weight equal to 55,000 pounds or more operating on public highways.

IFTA

The International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) is a cooperative agreement to redistribute tax for fuel use of carriers passing through more than one jurisdiction in provinces of Canada and the United States. The payment of fuel use tax by each of the vehicles at the base jurisdiction is credited to the other jurisdictions after the balance of debits from them.
